Museum of Science and Industry

National Institutes of Health Funding for Museum Education

Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry is the largest museum of its kind in North America. The Museum has a robust education program focused on inspiring students, empowering teachers and engaging the community. MSI was interested in expanding one of its permanent exhibits, YOU! The Experience, which celebrates the connection between the human mind, body and spirit.

We helped them craft and complete a complex proposal, SIMLAB: Using Patient Simulation for Student Exploration of Community Health Issue, to the National Institutes of Health Fund (NIH). The Museum was subsequently awarded $1,285,337 for the project.

Today, as a result of NIH funding, iStan, a full-size human patient simulator, is an integral part of MSI’s live science experiences, allowing students to get early hands-on experiences in medicine and public health.
